West End Community Council |
The West End Community Council Is a group of elected volunteers and co-opted members who come together with the common aim of improving the quality of life in this part of the city. The members liaise closely with other community groups, school, and charitable foundations and also organise their own activities such as litter picks. The purpose of the Community Council is to ascertain and co-ordinate the views of people living, working, and studying in the area and to express those views both formally and informally to Dundee City Council or to any other relevant authority. West End Christmas Week Committee Christmas Week belies its name in that it is very much a multicultural celebration of the season. The West End Traders make a major contribution to the festivities with a Prize Draw, Special Offers, and a popular Window Spotting Competition for children. The high point of the week is the Switch On of the Christmas Tree lights by a surprise guest. This is preceded by the Schools’ Concert by pupils from the local primary schools and the pupils of Harris Academy . It concludes with a grand fire-works display at Seabraes |
